When it comes to hitting the open road, spelling can sometimes be as important as steering. Seriously. That’s why Hertz hired Source Nine to develop a keyword-matching system to help its customers avoid losing sight of wherever they’re headed (even if they finished last in their seventh-grade spelling bee).
Here’s how it works: When road warriors enter data into their point-of-interest (POI) searches, the system queries this data against the verified keyword list and commonly known misspellings. This fast and user-friendly system returns MapQuest results, as well as a link providing an optional “did you mean to use?” keyword. Clicking on the link submits a second query to MapQuest using the corrected keyword. Source Nine also created a password-protected upload feature to replace the misspelled word list with a new-and-improved list.
